Technology has come a long way when it was first started off. Technology helps us communicate and reach one another. Years ago there were no social medias such as Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook. Everything would have been done the old fashion way, by talking face to face in real life.
The first time that I was able to access social media was when I received an IPod on my twelfth birthday. That was also the first year I created a Facebook account, I was addicted to Facebook and the games on it. I would come home from school every day turn on my IPod and log on to my Facebook and look at what's happening in other people's lives. When I mean addicted, I spent most of my day one Facebook talking to friends and hours on the free games to beat each other's high score.
I would never imagine a world without my phone. I use my phone almost all the time and I'm probably using my phone while you are reading this. My phone helps me get through the day and especially during school hours. In school, I use my phone to get help from the internet if needed, a calculator for math, or as entertainment when I need some time to relax and calm down. With so many apps that you can download onto your phone, your phone can basically do anything you want.
Technology is very useful to search things up and communicate with others, but it is also bad in many ways. Many people lose their vision and relationships with others because of this. Some people become so caught up in their virtual world and forget all about the real world. They lose connection with friends and families and creates an awkward silence when you see them in person.

INFLUENCED BY BAD CELEBS?
Celebrities are usually idols that other people look up too. They have a huge part of today's society by the way they dress, act and communicate with others. Celebrities are not perfect and they make mistakes like everyone else. Although people make mistakes there are always consequences. Everyone should be treated with the same consequences if they did the same wrong. Just because someone is famous they don't have special treatment.
When it comes to fans they are the celebrities number one supporter. Anything that the celebrities do the fan thinks he/she is right and there was nothing wrong with what they did. An example of this is Justin Bieber, Defacing public property with graffiti, driving while intoxicated, and causing over $20,000 in damages by vandalizing a neighbour's home were wrong. I think that Justin has gone past those days and recognized his mistakes. He has apologized and even created a new and improved album, the hardest he worked on.
On the other hand, Kanye West used a religious icon, Jesus Christ, as a symbol of himself. I think that is very disrespectful and offensive for those who actually believe in Catholic/Christianity and it was wrong for Kanye to mock that. He is portraying that he is the chosen one and the greatest of all time. In this case, many people might have been offended by Kayne becoming Jesus,
Celebrities should be more careful of what they do because they affect the way others act from their large fan base. Different kind musicians portray different meanings behind their music. Rap artist tends to relate their music to money, girls, and the use of alcohol and drugs. They need to change the way they act or many will follow in the celebrity footsteps. It is hard to be a famous celebrity.
SCHOOL AND SAFETY
Most of the time we are at school five days a week for about 6-7 hours. A school is basically a second home to us and many students. There are many great things about school and, many not so great things about school. Education, hanging with friends, school teams and much more are all great about school, but then comes the homework, the tests, and STRESS. Some people enjoy school but many don't including me.
A school is a safe and accepting community to be in for most people but for others, it's a living hell. I'm not talking about all the homework your get or the stress levels, I'm talking about bullying. Many don't have to face bullying but, know or may have seen bullying around their school. In my case, I have never faced bullying but I have seen bullying happen. It was in elementary school when my friend was bullied online, cyber bullying. We didn't know what to do so we kept it to ourselves. Later on, the bully stopped messaging my friend and it all it came to a complete stop.
All teachers know and heard of bullying but never actually had to do anything about it. Teachers don't really know what's going on behind closed doors or online of students that face bullying. But in Mary Ward, we don't have this problem. In Mary Ward, students have many ways to talk about their bullying situation if they have one. From friends to teachers and guidance counsellors, they can all help students find ways to stop bullying.
New services that can be provided at Mary Ward is an anti-bullying club or group. In this club students that face bullying inside or out of school can come and get help. This will help those that are too shy or scared to a teacher so a student can relate to them.

CAN YOU REALLY TRUST THE INTERNET?
The internet is amazing and I would not be able to live without it. Just image the world with internet, yeah gross. Not being able to Google things when you need help, directions to somewhere or online shopping, it looks awful just thinking about it. But on the other hand, you can't always trust what you see on the internet. Sometimes it's hard to tell if it is real or fake and you would never know what to do.
The internet just makes life so much easier and more fun. Without the use of the internet, we would have to do everything the old fashion way from reading books to doing it yourself. My best friend for anything in elementary school was Wiki. Wiki helped me do projects, powerpoints, and even summarize a story. It was my best friend for a good four years until high school came along and ruined our friendship. The problem with Wiki is that anyone is able to change it and add real or fake information about it. How would we ever find out if the information we are reading is true or not, but we believe it because it's on the internet.
to be honest I have fallen for some of these tricks people do online. I remember back in grade 7, I had to do a research about the history of skateboarding for a project and instantly went to Wiki. Everything that I was reading online was true but later on, as I read more, people had changed the words and started to talk about railroads and trains, I was so confused and didn't know if it was real or fake because back then I believed everything on the internet, I think the internet is an amazing thing to have but be careful of the sites and information on the website.

ADS KILLS ME
ADS ARE EVERYWHERE
Ads are everywhere and I hate everything about them. It's on Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Google and the worst of them all, Youtube. Man, I just hate it when you're in the middle of a video and an ad just pops up right before the best part. The worst ads are the ones that you can't skip and makes you watch the entire ad. But Youtube is amazing because it's free entertainment and we all love free things except ads....
WORTH IT?
Ads are the worst and it's a waste of time to most people. Ads usually don't make me want to buy the product or service so what's the point of having it there. If only everything was ad free, it would be like living in heaven. Just hearing "ad free" makes everything better. But to pay for ads to be removed, no thanks. I rather just watch the ad than pay $9.99 a month because I don't spend most of my time watching Youtube. $9.99, not even worth the money, is a way to much to pay for ad-free Youtube. Netflix is $7.99, can almost do the exact same thing as Youtube and lets you watch movies. The time of an ad may not take forever but you the person watching it, it could feel like forever. It's not like you are going to die from watching a Youtube ad and sure won't harm you either.
BENEFICIAL OR NOT?
Helpful, not really, worth it, not really so whats with all these ads. Youtube needs to make some kind of profit so they show ads between different videos you watch. Ads aren't so bad if they were only shown every three videos you click to watch. It would less annoying and Youtube will still make plenty of profit. To me, the only ad that actually catches my eye is the movie trailers. Ads that promote movies doesn't make me want to skip it but to continue to the end. In my opinion, $9.99 is not worth it and I rather spend my money on something else like FOOD!

IS TV DYING??
Is TV dying? I think the lifespan of television is slowly coming to an end. Back, when I was in grades two to six I would come home from school and run to the couch, grab the remote, and watch tv for hours. Everyone talked about what they watched the night before and how good it was. It was my only source of entertainment and I always got mad when my parents told me it was time to sleep. Nowadays I personally don't hear many people talk about what they watched or even talk about tv in general. I don't even remember the last time I sat down in front of a tv and watched a show. Most people don't watch shows on tv but on online streams like Netflix and Youtube (My dynamic duo).
With online streams, Netflix, people tend to prefer them more due to no ads and being able to watch any show at any time with a click of a button. Sometimes you get so caught up while watching a show or movie you lose track of time and forget to do the things you needed to do. It can be so hard for you to stay focused if you have Netflix or Youtube playing in the background, just taunting to watch the show. I never hear people say anymore, "Did you watch that show on Disney last night," but I often hear, "There's this great series on Netflix, you should watch it".
Now is really tv dying? Slowly but tv is a wonderful thing. Even though television isn't as popular as before doesn't mean it's going to die. Channels like CTV News, Family Channel, and ESPN have a large viewer audience. A basketball, football or even any other sports game, is always better to watch in on a bigger screen than a phone or computer and with a bunch of friends and family.
I think tv is slowly dying but many have switched to online streams.
